Dr. Clare Carlisle is a Reader in Philosophy and Theology at King's College London. She is the author of multiple books on Kierkegaard, most recently the new biography Philosopher of the Heart: The Restless Life of Søren Kierkegaard (Penguin, ), one book on habit, and the first English translation of Félix Ravaisson’s De l’habitude. On 16 October , Kierkegaard published three more books about love and faith and several more discourses. Fear and Trembling was published under the pseudonym Johannes de Silentio. Repetition is about a Young Man (Søren Kierkegaard) who has anxiety and depression because he feels he has to sacrifice his love for a girl (Regine Olsen) to mater: University of Copenhagen.

In his book Works of Love, the 19th century Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard claims that love, including erotic love, comes from deep within our being, from the heart.   Kierkegaard, called the father of existentialism, pondered what it means to be human in the world. Clare Carlisle’s biography, “Philosopher of the Heart,” arrives amid a fad for his work.

Book Description: Kierkegaard's God and the Good Life focuses on faith and love, two central topics in Kierkegaard's writings, to grapple with complex questions at the intersection of religion and ethics. Here, leading scholars reflect on Kierkegaard's understanding of God, the religious life, and what it . The philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard has been a major influence in the development of 20th-century philosophy, especially existentialism and postmodernism. Søren Kierkegaard was a 19th-century Danish philosopher who has been labeled by many as the "Father of Existentialism", although there are some in the field who express doubt in labeling him an existentialist to begin with.
